Senior Captains Blog
Dear Senior Members
Happy New Year.
I have been asked by Dawn, to write a few lines to let you know what is going on over the year ahead.
Firstly, I have been asked to be Seniors Captain this year. Most of you know me, but for those who don’t, my name is Jeff Evans. I was born in Aberystwyth. My early years were spent in Machynlleth and Tywyn, coming back to Aberystwyth when I was ten years old and went to Dinas Secondary School, Aberystwyth.
When leaving school, I went to work for J.D. Lloyds, in the saw mill for 6 years. I then went to work at the Royal Mail Post Office as a Postman for 36 years, before retiring 18 months ago now.
I played football in my younger days, proudly playing for Aberystwyth Town Football Club. I did play for Machynlleth, Penrhyncoch, but mainly for Aberystwyth Reserves, then ending up with Borth United Football Club, where I am still on the committee.
When I finished playing football, I took up golf and joined Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club in 1999, but after a few years, football took over again and I was asked to be Chairman of Borth United Football Club which had started up again after many years.
I started playing golf again two years ago and now have been asked to Captain the Seniors. I had to think about this, as I am still involved with Borth United Football Club, but I have a passion with Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club in general and I hope I can now, with your help do the captaincy credit.
Steve, with the help of Howard, has kept the Seniors going and as I have said before, Steve had a passion for Seniors golf. I hope to carry this on.
I think it is a great opportunity to play on other courses for £10-£12, food included, and to meet up with other people and represent our club. I hope you agree and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how we can improve our Seniors golf, please let me or Howard know.
I look forward to playing together during 2017 and representing our club.
